Salt Lake City-On Friday, the Utah Jazz took Williams to the team salon, announcing that the star point guard would get hair extensions.
The length of the extensions was not disclosed, but according to the Salt Lake Examiner, Williams agreed to an eight-inch piece with an option for a ten-inch piece next season.
While the precise value of the fake hair will not be known, the Examiner reported that the Jazz will pay nearly $50 million for the first eight inches and as much as $70 million if he exercises the ten inch option next year. The 24-year-old would not be eligible for more hair until 2012 at the earliest.
“Continuing to have the best hair on the Jazz is exactly what I want to do,” Williams said Friday. “I am confident in the way I look and really like the way it feels on my shoulders. We all want to look our best, don’t we?”
Taken third overall in the 2005 draft by the Jazz, Williams recently purchased a hair salon in the area and has spent most of the summer in with his stylist.
“My wife, Amy, and I really enjoy having long hair and look forward to continue to have long hair,” he added.
After more than two weeks of negotiations, the Jazz completed the hair deal two days before Williams leaves for Las Vegas to join the Olympic squad. Last month, he was one of 12 players selected to the NBA “All Hair” team, which will compete in the Beijing Hair Olympics next month.

“My wife, Amy, and I really enjoy having long hair and look forward to continue to have long hair,” he added.
“Deron is the cornerstone of what we have building, and he is a significant part of our foundation for the future,” said Steve Nash, Player-Coach of the USA Hair Generals.
Williams declined to add a twelve inch extension – the maximum allowable – and opted instead to follow in the footsteps of fellow stars, Steve Nash, Dirk Nivitski, and Dennis Rodman who all had shorter extensions to allow themselves flexibility to pull it back into a tight pony, or cover most if it with a hat.
Williams and Chris Paul have been linked as two rising-star point guards in the league. Paul added a similar hair extension earlier this summer.

But while Paul finished second in voting for the NBA’s Best Hair Award last season, Williams has yet to be officially recognized for his hair do despite being recently selected as a member of the All-Hair team.
UPDATE:
It turns out that the NBA All Hair Team has some new competition:

This is too funny, I think he should maybe get some clip in hair extensions, they have a far better look than the salon ones. Clip ins will give him about 24inches extra length which will be great for his next season. Go on williams get your clip in hair extensions from http://www.headkandy.com or perhaps http://www.bobbyglam.com
